Interaction Institute for Social Change
My mother, Marianne Hughes, has spent her entire life combatting the unequal distribution of wealth in this country. Beginning as a volunteer in the second class of VISTA in the late sixties, she has led people to better lives through her determination to enact the "love that does justice."
Currently, is the Executive Director of the Interaction Institute for Social Change, a management consulting firm for non-profits and NGOs. Given the culture of 501(c)(3)'s involves big titles and small paychecks, fifedoms and founder's syndrome are constant problems, which is to say nothing of those pesky boards of directors. So the Interaction Institute goes in like a tactical team and cleans up the conversational shop.
They're flagship workshop is called Facilitative Leadership, and it recallibrates the practice of having meetings. Essentially, meetings are horrible for everyone always because they're had wrong. Check-ins can be done on paper and as emails, but that is the point of thousands of pointless meetings.
The point of meetings should be learning and decision-making. Which is similar to editing a good scene together. Look for the learning and decision making that happens in the coverage, and get those shots into the cut! Full circle, faBAM!
