My appearance on Hollywood Camera Work’s Prep Show
This week, I’m a guest on Hollywood Camera Work‘s Prep Show with the estimable Per Holmes and my new pal Brandon Galatz. We looked at a scene from a short film and spent some time picking it apart, figuring how to make the acting better. It was a fantastic exercise and a dream come true to geek out about quite literally my favorite topic in the world.
Per’s company Hollywood Camera Work creates tutorial courses (like Staging High End Scenes and Directing Actors) and software (like Shot Designer and Causality Story Sequencer — both of which I use weekly or more) for filmmakers, and it is because of their host of offerings that I was able to accelerate my learning as a newbie film director and take years, YEARS, off of my apprenticeship phase.
I said it on the show but I’ll say it again here, Per Holmes has done more to advance the cause of good directing than any other human on the planet, and i look forward to doing this again soon. Thank you Per!
